The last 24 hours has brought unprecedented decisions and closures, which we are not immune to and has meant suspension of all Basketball Competitions until further notice.


While disappointing, Basketball Victoria, Aligned, the PDBA and the Club have done this to ensure that safety of every person is paramount.


Due to competition suspensions, and government guidance, from Monday, that no person should attend an organised event of more than 500 people, the following club information is provided.


Domestic Competition

All Domestic competitions have been suspended until further notice.

This includes Saturday and weekday competitions, all training has been suspended until further notice, and Finals have been suspended until further notice

Note: All VJBL and Big V competitions have also been suspended


Winter Season Competition

As per previous post from Aaron, we are still taking registrations for the winter competition. Registrations close on Monday 16th March.

We appreciate there is some uncertainty with the competition currently suspended but in order to select teams and submit them in time (on the assumption that Winter season will be unaffected) we still need to close registration at the planned date.

If it is later determined that Winter season is going to be impacted by the COVID-19 situation, then the committee will discuss the implications of this as quickly as possible.


End of Summer season Presentation & Birthday celebration

The committee has decided to cancel our end of season event at Gumbuya World. While this is disappointing, it is a decision that is required.


We have communicated with all Team Managers and Coaches, and have asked each team to organise a club funded event, so teams can still celebrate a great season and receive trophies. It will be up to each Team Manager and Coach to decide on the type of event they wish to hold – ensuring they are not attending an organised event of more than 500 people, as required by the government.


Team Managers and Coaches will discuss timing around these events with you directly.


Gumbuya World Refunds

Our Treasurer, Dorothy Edwards, will be processing refunds for all payments received for Gumbuya as quickly as possible.


As I am sure you understand, this will take a few days to process, then our provider (if paid via credit card) can take between 5-7 business days to return the funds to your account. Please allow up to 10 working days to receive your refund – we appreciate your patience while we go through this process.

Credit Card – please allow up to 10 business days to receive your refund

Bank Transfer – you will receive an email for our Treasurer, Dorothy Edwards, asking for you bank details. Please do not pre-empt this and send her your details. Please wait until you receive an email requesting information


If you have not received a refund or been contacted by the 29th March, please email with date you made payment, the amount and the reference, so Dorothy can locate your payment.
